Subject: how do I fiberglass enclosure?

I want to make a subwoofer enclosure in my trunk but don't just want a square wooden box wrapped in carpet. I asked around and somebody told me i can tinfoil the trunk, so fiberglass doesn't stick to it, then fiberglass and add resin. Then make rings for the subs to go in, but dont mount them on a frame or anything, just get the foam that expands and empty a can on the bottom on the enclosure, make the shape you want, then place the rings where you want them. When you are done sanding to get the concave shape you want, fiberglass and add resin again, then cut holes for rings. and place them in. Hollow out the foam a little bit for room for the subs, wires, etc, then add subs, wire and play. Is this right? Something sounds off and this is my first time doing anything so I dont want to mess it up because someone told me something wrong. The foam part sounds interesting but can I do this without a wooden frame or anything?

Yer aluminium foil works great, cept it can stick to the enclosre, i dont use foam though.  what you do is make all the flat areas outa MDF and glass onto the MDF for joins.  use dowel rods and hot glue to hold the speaker rings in place.  The you apply fleece to the enclosre and glass

Check out this link its a good site, this is how i did my box, cept i used a flat MDF front and used glass to make a mould of the side of the cars boot

Thanks, this helps. But the only flat piece will be the bottom so can I just make the entire piece out of fiberglass? Also, some sub boxes are sealed, ported, vented, etc. This will be sealed right? how would you seal it?

Fibreglass isnt very stong for flat peices so it really depends on how big the flat base is.  Yes you could do it as a sealed or ported.  The site link that i gave you shoes the steps, wen the fleece is stretched and glassed it will provide a seal.  FG is waterproof and if there are no holes will be air tight.  You will need more then 5 layers of glass usually, this will provide a seal, aslong as there are no air bubbles.

You can make it any way you want as long as you follow the Manf. reccomended enclosure size. Also as mentioned above to keep the foil from sticking apply a thin coat of car wax before you lay your glass on.
