Enclosure Carpeting 101

I did a search first before posting and didnt find a thread. Per the subject I am looking for a posting or  books on doing sub enclosure carpeting. I would also like to find information on upolstry.

Hard to explain, easier to show. Lay out the carpet, apply the glue to the carpet, apply glue to the face of the box, place the box face down in the middle. Then apply glue to the top of the box, then roll box back onto the carpet, then glue the bottom of the box and push the carpet on the bottom of the box. Now apply glue to the back of the box and push carpet from the top of the box over, make sure it doesn't cover the whole back of the box. Then apply the carpet from the bottom of the box over. Now take a blade and cut a straight line along the back of the box. That was the easy part.

Now the hard part. Take the two separate sections of the carpet and glue the side of the box. Lay the two sections of carpet down to the side of the box. Take a blade and cut the carpet diagonally on both sides. Now take the carpet and lay the side over the box and part of the carpet already secured to the box. Take the blade and cut a rounded cut from each corner above the center of the side. Peel the carpet back up and take the carpet that would be overlapped off of the box. Then lay the carpet back over the box. Repeat for all sides. When you get done there will be little to now visible seams. Like I said easier to teach then explain.

At anyrate that is how I do it.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

one thing i find helpful...is take a good straigh edge (one that wont get cut by the blade) and where you have over lapping seams, push the straigh edge tightly against the peice you already stuck down and cut the new peice you are going to lay down...that way the cut will be a straight line and you can keep it really close and tight to the other seam and once you get the hang of it you can make it look like no seam at all.
