Im planning on making a sub box for my 85 corvette to hold just one 12" sub.  What Im planning to do is make the bottom and a back side of it with MDF and fiberglass the rest to hold up the sub.

I want to paint the fiberglass part black and cover the MDF with a vinyl. I was going to cover the mdf before laying the fiberglass. Any ideas on how I can keep the vinyl protected while I build the rest of the box?

Im no expert but I have done quite a few boxes like what your doing. My recommendation is to do the glass work first, then paint the fg, then lay your vinyl.
