Well I did a search about what types of spray guns people are using and what I need to get. I didnt find much except for a website called www.spraygundepot.com What types of guns would be needed from primer and glue spray to automotive paint and metal flake? I am at a total loss here and any help is greatly appreciated.

Good question. We just use the cheaper ones from Home Depot. I think they are like 49 bucks each. ------------- ~The Rookie~

Now do you use the gravity fed type? And if so is it a plastic or metal canister for the paint? I dont know how you would go about cleaning the plastic type since plastic melts when it gets into contact with acetone.

well for glue and primer a cheap siphion feed will probably do the job... but for paint and metal flake i would go with a big dod SATA gun.. they r price but they spray so well ecspecially if you going to do flake and crazy shhh like that... most SATA's i believe r gravity feed and container type isn't a big deal.. i prefer the metal easier to clean

Gravity fed are definatly better, plastic containers are just made to be solvent resistant, the same as most good quality plastic paint pails but metal is easiler to clean. The grav gun i own has a 1.2mm and 1.3mm tip for base coats, high solid clearcoats waterbornes and single stages and a 1.4mm tip for low solid clearcoats and single stages. U just run the compressor at differnt psi range from between 25 and 40psi depending on the type of paint you are spraying. I clean the pot out first, then run turps/solvent through the gun, then take the tip off and clean it, then reassemble and run warm water through it (to remove the solvent or turps) If ive done lots of work and want to clean the gun properly i just strip it out into individual parts and clean them seperatly

mattieg have u ever painted before??? cause from what u ask i take it that you have never sprayed before and if you haven't i suggest alot of practice and that way you will find out what your comfortable with doing... alot of guys may spray the same product but each has there own way.. u gotta figure out whats best for you.. and as far as tip sizes i would go to your paint supply store and talk to them.. they guys here @ REDSHAW PAINT SUPPLY r great.. i don't know if you have one of those where you live
