Is there any particular substance you guys use to clean plexiglass??

Acetone...kidding, dont use acetone. U can polish plexiglass like u would a car.

I've heard that furniture polish is sometimes used, is this true??

never heard of it. If the plexiglass needs a really good cleaning and scratch removal i doubt it would work, but once the grunt work is done it might work to polish it up nice afterwards, probly leaves a film and keeps it sorta wetlooking (suppose it depends on the type of furniture polish too though), doesnt hurt to try it though (try on scrap piece first incase it has a reaction)

Meguires makes a Plastic Scratch Remover, a 2 step thing, just for this.

stay away from Pledge. it WILL fade it.

anyways, using a wax after inital cleaning will prolong the lok while attracting dust

After you use a cleaner on it, if you have lite scratches or scuffs, use a propane torch to slightly heat the surface and gradually you will see the imperfections fade away. Be careful, it doesn't take much.
