This right now is a work in progress I will update it as it comes along.

posted_image

The start of the dash insert. I'm putting in a 7inch X File audio screen in the dash of a 1994 firebird along with molding in the Pioneer trim ring. The air controls will be moved to the clove box.

posted_image

The screen trim piece is glued in along with the pioneer trim.

posted_image

After some Kitty hair and some sanding I sprayed some primmer to see for imperfections.

posted_image

After sanding off the primmer I put some bondo on the imperfections and did some more sanding.

posted_image

Primmed and ready for paint, I sent off the piece to paint and will post soon how it looks in the car.

Update. I had the car, so I did a test fit and made all of the brackets need to remount the radio and move the Ac controls. Not very easy to do.

posted_image

The screen in the dash piece.

posted_image

I made a template of the glove box for the AC controls.

posted_image

To move the Air Controls to the glove box to minor work all I had to do was to extend the main harness a foot.

posted_image

The new AC control bracket.

posted_image

Everything fits. It will look really good when it gets some paint.

Thanks. This not my car though it belongs to a friend of mine he gave me the car for a few weeks to install his system. There will be many more pictures of this car to come. It will be getting a full glass install from the rear seats back.

Thanks. This is not my car though, it belongs to a friend on mine. He gave me the car for a few weeks to install a killer show system. There will be many more pics of this car showing the install of a major fiberglass setup from the rear seats back.

Memphis9,

Very nice..How did you set up the bracket for the radio..is it attached to the

faceplate, if it is how is holding up with the weight of the radio? any bouncing,

vibration?

I too am doing something similar, well, partly similar.  I'm actually putting a 15in screen in the dash.  Alittle more work than a 7, but well worth it! posted_image

hey everyone, my name is kyle i am the owner of this firebird. I actually made the bracket for the radio. I took a piece of aluminum and made it mount up where the heating controls used to be screwed in. I had to bend the tabs that got screwed into place so the radio would be flush with the trim piece. As for the bouncing, the center counsle seems to hold it up quite well. As soon as i get my camera back i will load up some pics of the bracket.

what you did was hot. I am in the process of doing the same thing. I am redoing my dash in my 200 intrepid. I dont like the fact that my in dash is toward the bottom of the dash. Its hard to see my nav so I am moving it all the way to the top just like you did. I am using a 10" screen though and I am also going to be adding a center channel speaker in between the screen and the Avic n1 that I have. I have gotten extra bezels from a local salvage yard for this project. I will have it all done by summer. I am also putting ina new sound system so we will see how it all goes. Between school work and my soon my time is limited but you got to do what you got to do.
