hey all,

I am looking at buying a used fiberglass box from a guy over the internet and I was wondering if there are any specific questions that I should ask.

Here is what I know about the box so far:

it is 4-5 layers of glass thick
the current owner has been running an Image Dynamics IDmax 12 in it
he has hit 134.5 db in IASCA competition with it
it is 1.4-1.6 cu ft. approx

there are pics here: https://www.sounddomain.com/ride/759870

I have some close ups of the vinyl that he used too.

he will sell me this for $265 shipped to my door.

any help is greatly appreciated

Ryan

you're buying the first box with the single sub?  Looks allright for the price.  His tweeter pods leave something to be desired though.

yesh, I should have been more specific sorry, It is the box for the single 12, it is shown through the building process. I would agree about the tweeter pods.

I feel like $265 is a bargain considering the time that it takes to make a box like this.

anyone else?

thanks

If you get the sub with it, then we say go for it. Without the sub... it's up to you. Looks good and clean.

As for the tweeter pods, one of us kind of likes it. It gives it that mechanical machined look. The only thing that he doesn't like is the direction the tweets are aimed. They may be dome tweeters but the riders will not get the full sound out of them.

The only thing we would ask about the box is what weight of glass did he use to make the sub? 4-5 layers thick really does not say that much to us. the weight will determine it's strength.

Little rich I would say on the price. Likely cost him 50 bucks to make if that and then time of course which we all know is priceless. I would honestly try and build one yourself. Lots of help here and the satisfaction would be well worth the time I am sure. Good Luck.
