is there any specifics that i need to know before i start to cut the rear deck out of my 2000 gs 300? Will it mess with the ride of my car? where do i need to set the braces if needed?

go ahead cut away...But i will suggest you weld some support brackets underneath the deck..You must remember that cars now are engineered in a way to structurley protect the passangers inside. Welding extra support underneath the deck will keep the car from twisting during normal driving also..Like when you hit that big pothole. Also depending on how much bass you plan on having in your trunkand if its alot ........cutting the rear deck without reinforcement could casue your rear glass to flex and cause leaking or worse. If you want to cut your deck to let more bass into the car there are other ways around that. ..this info is just from expereince and is therefore my opinion.

I vote for finding a better way......something other than hacking your car apart, and possably doing damage you CAN'T fix..

thanks guys, but i went ahead and did it. i didnt cut the whole rear deck out though. it came w/ a factory ten and i pretty much just extended that 10" hole into a 10" by 36" hole. made a world or difference. i feel like its a hatchback now! i did weld two braces back there just to make sure that everything was still stable.

remember that now days a car is unibody construction which means that most of what a car is made of is somehow linked to the structural aspect of it's design. Just a little info for all of us to keep in mind.
