Hello, Ihave been planning this for quite sometime-even before I bought the car. The car that this box will go into is a 1998 VW Golf 4 door hatchback.

I am going to be using one 12" sub- I have a 12 inch alpine type S, but I might sell it and the amp( alpine MRD-m301) and buy a type r instead...not sure yet.
but to the box, more on the system later.

drawing I did in photoshop.

and the car in question:

now about the system:

the car came with alpine type s 6.5s in the front doors, and type s 6.5 components in the rears- and a 12" type s sub powered by the mrd-301.

as I said, I might sell the amp and the sub and get the type-r, any thoughts? ( Iwould purchase either the new vpower or the v12 605)

this will all be run off of the Pioneer 5700dvd cd/dvd receiver.

any thoughts on the box, or the rest of the system?

Cool Idea man, what size do you plan on making the box. Volume f3 is a big thing to look into so try and work that into the desine. And go with the type R. Way cool idea. Keep posted on progress

i like the first idea better, but if u want the extra space then the second idea would be good.

Visually, the first one is much nicer, I would suggest tilting the sub so it faces the back more, I think it would look nicer and have more impact when viewed from behind. Practically, the second .It would give you more room for storage

First option looks sweet. Ya keeping in mind the air mass needed for that sub but would be nice looking. Post some progress pics once you begin and good ideas.

I am running 2 Type Rs off of an Audiobahn 8002T@ 1 ohm. Having problems w/amp overheating and going into protection(not 1 ohm stable, no guts no glory) They are in 2 sep. FG enclosures@ 1.66quft . Can pound them for about 20 min before overheating but hit 162.3db in Dec. at Music in Motion "Pounders" here in Illinois. Nice subs, have taken hell from me.

this, as you can see is going to go behnd the front seats, molded right off the center console.
then I may mould in a remote ont he left.

anyone attempted one liek this?

Idont think this one will be too hard, just take the housing off the monitor, suspend it out, and sstretch fleece or somethign over it, maybe bake a mdf frame first.

I think the tv coming off the center console will be sick. plus ive never seen it or even thought about it. ive been looking around some some idea's of my own but im not that good yet... Nice job keep us posted. Yeah im a rookie we all were once haha.

damn Nice Photoshop!

As for the designs,

The first sub setup looks fine. I saw someone suggested to have the sub face more to the rear. I think that would be a great idea also. I'm not a big fan of having subs fire straight up.

I don't think you have enough space between the seats to put a big enough monitor to make it worth your time. I suggest putting in 2 headrest monitors and molding in 2 remotes side by side. I think that would be sick. But you don't wanna waste your time molding in a 5.8 between those seats. It would be kinda small to watch anything.

Nice set up pimp. I did my console like that in my Durango. I have the screen molded off the console for the folks in the back seat.   I have pictures if you want to see them let me know.

I was thinking more along the line of 7" screens, and I would have it site not bwtween the seats, bot kind of bow out behind them, i mocked it up with some cardboard the other day and it seemed to work.

and yes, Id really like to see those pictures:
