I have a 71 buick in which I have removed the rear seat and plan to make a custom fiberglass enclosure in its place. The space is 56 inches by 36, so the whole back seat. I have been going to school for body work for the past year, but yet to work with fiberglass. I need to know where I start. Do I use MDF to build a frame, or can I lay down tin foil and lay resin on that? I just need to know which way would be best for my situation. Any advice about fiberglass and fabrication will be greatly appreciated.
take some pictures so we can see what the current state of the area in question look like...
Mdf will be way easier then moulding the floor of your car...but i will wait to see pics before i say forsure..

you want to use as much MDF as u can on the basic frame ecspecially in such a large area and it will help with strength and give u a good area to glass off of just my opinion

70's models Buicks...yeah! I have a 1970 skylark in the fiberglass process. If you wanna take the back seat out, i would still build an MDF enclosure and frames. It will be stronger on flat surfaces and save lots of time/money. Here is my old system for you picturemongers! The old system is gone. Next is 2 12L7's. The enclosure will be flush with trunk deck and the subs will be mounted onto the contoured fiberglass face.
