i recently made some speaker pods for a guys 68 camaro that will house a 6.5" woofer and 1" tweeter i have the pods in the fiberglass stage and they are ready to be sanded but my question is on the bottom of the enclosure where i wrapped the fleece and stapled it do i need to just smooth it out like the rest of the pod because it is going to sit flat on the door panel

When I did mine they were very rough on the bottom(since I stapled the fleece there)... here is a pic https://www.project04.net/gallery/main.php/view/MonteCarlo/system/pods/IMG_3152.jpg

To get them to sit flat in my car how i wanted(https://www.project04.net/gallery/main.php/view/MonteCarlo/system/pods/pods%20001.jpg) I took an die grinder to the bottom to make them flat. Since the resin is soaked into both the fleece and the wood there was really no need for the staples and fleece on the bottom, so I just grinded them off with like 50grit on the die grinder.

I have done a number of pods.  I just pop the staples off and sand the back smooth with a belt sander, with a 60 grit belt.  Be sure to take the staples off first, they are hard on the sanding belt.
