First Fiberglassing Job

I would personally like to thank Velocity Motors for his step by step instructions on fiberglassing. I have finally completed my subwoofer box and amp box and it has been installed. Thanks again guys for all the info. You can check out the boxes here.

not bad at all especially for a first try. I used to have subs in my parents van that i drove when i was 17.

the 9 subs reminded me of the scottie johnson 9 brahma 15 van. I think his might be a tad louder though.

I don't know what it is but there is just something so exciting about having 9 subs behind your head. Maybe the blurred vision. First spl test coming up the end of May so I'll post the results.

I'd love to go to that extent with the batteries and amps but it took me long enough to make the money to purchase what I have. Time to pay off the loans and get some bills paid before I go any further.[:(]

You definately need to set your priorities and that is often the case with money. Thats a lesson I'm learning right now being in college. Another thing too is that you need to be SOMEWHAT practical. The extent in that picture was a full out sponsered spl vehicle and would make no sense to have even a third of that in a daily driver. You can only listen to it so loud in the vehicle before you go deaf.

I'm curious though, you say it's your work van, what business are you in?

I'm a Superintendent of a 60 unit apartment building but I also do most of the maintenance for the building I am in as well as 2 other buildings. I pretty much make my own hours and work when I want which is why I had the time to build the system in the van. I usually put in 2 long weeks of work and make a good $3,000-$4,000 then take a week and do whatever I want. Problem is that when I work that hard I never take a break and the body starts to shut down after so much.

The reason I have gone this far with this system is I am hoping to catch someones attention and maybe get the possibilities of being sponsored. I am willing to go the extra mile to get where I want to be. I can tell you now that I am completely obsessed with bass and I do listen to the system at almost full volume (with headphones on). Everything in the van has been soundproofed and not a single part of the van vibrates outside. It's kind of funny though when I pull up to a job and climb out with the headphones on. Takes about 5 minutes to get rid of the shivers too but it's the best massage chair I've ever sat in.

i dont understand this i guess? whats the point of having it at full volume all the time if your going to be blocking out 80% of it anyway? is it just so that other people have to listen to it to? im not trying to insult you at all im just wondering what the reason is behind it? the only thing i can come up with is that u can feel it more then you hear it? i have subs in my truck so im not bashing or anything just wondering

yeah im not sure what happen with that last one but the top part i was trying to quote the part about how u have it all the way up and then have headphones on so that you dont harm your hearing

It's mainly for the feeling. With that much pressure hitting your body it feels like your lungs are going to collapse. I can't explain it man. Bass is a complete obsession for me and the more the better. I have always gotten into my friends vehicles and wanted it louder. Guess it's just the insane side coming out of me. I'm usually only in the vehicle for max half and hour cause I don't travel far to do my work and with the stress of putting up with 120 tenants plus tenants from the other buildings I do work at you just need a break and to let everything go and forget about the stresses. Guess what I am saying is that the insane way I listen to my system is my way of escaping reality. I don't care if other people hear it or not it's my zone and my time to relax. My job is literally 24/7 and the wining and complaining that I have to deal with is pretty annoying. Feel like I am a kindergarten teacher sometimes. I can still hear the music perfectly even with the headphones on but I get so much more bass and it really is relaxing when it is that loud. It's mostly just personal preference but I think if you sat in that van for a couple minutes you would understand my addiction. Maybe I just take things a little over the edge. People express themselves in different ways and i guess this is my way. Thanks for the questions though man. I never really thought about why I do listen to it so loud and this has actually made me think about it. I'll have to think on it some more and let you know.

wauw, kristkatalyst, that's awesome pushed the windows with the 6 subs, damn, imagine the 9? hahaha that will be very cool. I have 4 12" subwoofers in sealed enclosure and my friends says that i'm crazy, i can shake the windows of the stores down the streets with only 4 12" and you have 9. that will be a monster, my car will be like a baby next to you, man i wish you luck when you go to the compitition. and let us know the result. Kristkatalyst one more thing can you film it and put your video clips on Realm Of Excursion, so we can see it in action? anyways kristkatalyst thnx and good luck.

Thanks again Aruman. That sites awesome. I'll definately be taking my video camera and posting the results for you. I'm doing some more modifications in the van right now to cover over the back side windows and block off the back of the van cause the pressure is still pushing out the windows and causing the back door to release from its latch and pop part way open. I'll be getting the other 3 subs on Thursday May 4th. I'll take a couple pics of the box when all 9 are in and it will show the modifications I have been working on. Pictures should be up by friday morning so check it out whenever you get a chance.
