How much would it cost for two fiberglass  12 inch subwoofer boxes molded to the wheel wells of my car that are roughly a foot of volume? Is this exspensive?

I know a shop in indianapolis that charges 70 bucks an hour for fiberglass work. I don't know if that's the norm or not, that is just how much they quoted me and the reason why I do all my fiberglass work myself now.

fiberglass reminds me of peanut brittle... but fiberglass tastes better!

that is kinda high but its all on how u want them finished and u have to take in to count all the sanding they have to do. I dont charge that amount I charge according to what u want done. I'm not out to bust anyones head and steal their arms or legs.

Are you talking about 70$ a hour or the price I am offering them for?

Resin is just under $15 a quart.  A package of fiberglass is under $10.  One pack of fiberglass and the initial fleece covering will soak up a gallon of resin, read $60 in resin.  Fleece is cheap.  One enclosure will take at least 2-3 packs of fiberglass.  Add in the rings, dowel, glue gun, etc, and you are going to spend about $120 per enclusure, and that doesn't take into account the Bondo, which is about $15 a gallon.

This is based on my experiences with my first enclosure, which I am still in the middle of...

There is more costs as well. Paint brushes or rollers, rubber gloves, sand paper, electricity, tape, primer,  hot gun glue, razor blades, cutting bits for dremile that brake, I got it more like 165$ and this is with the cheapest items, there are better resins and higher quality fillers like rage gold and spot filler. some people even do gel coat.

I forgot the incidental!  You are closer to accurate on the price.

If you have never fiberglassed before and don't have the tools, your first project will be pretty expensive. Like stated above, you will need a dremel, stapler and all the other stuff listed. And also, please make sure you buy a respierator specially made for fiberglassing. That will probably cvost you around $40-$50.

in my opinion* I wouldnt recommend something like that for a first timer. I would start with something smaller until you get the feel for glassing. Then youll understand why people charge so much. But so much more comes into play like what kind of subs and their measurements. If your goin for looks, sound, or both than it can be pretty complicated. But Good Luck and Happy Sanding.

I used to think the same thing, but not anymore.  I just dived right into a pretty extensive project for my first time fiberglassing.  I am learning how to handle this stuff quickly and my project is coming out great!

As you see, there is not an answer.  Well there are at least partial answers.  Everything depends on everything.  But in my assessment to cost, a single 1 cubic foot box constructed of  fiber glass would cost around $50.  This should be understood there is a waste factor (you wont be using the full sheet of MDF, or every ounce of FG mat/cloth, or the full can of resin).  It should be obvious that this price is if you already have the tooling...including the small things such as gloves, stir sticks, brushes....everything.   I think if you really want to know, you should provide more detail and or nature of the construction you require.  What car is it for?  Also, just so everyone knows, are you talking about the spare tire-well, or the wheel-wells?

I am talking about these          http:/cardomain.com/ride/2123183/2    These were very difficult to build. Matching the angles and design was difficult because the wheel wells were of different shapes. So it took some time to come up with the design,
