Shopping List, fiberglass project

Can anyone supply a list of what you need in order to complete a first project with fiber glass ( for example an enclosure)

Just need a list of supplies. Where to get them maybe(im in arizona if that helps any). Any the equipment I could possibly need ( like tools etc.) thanks i also think if there is a topic for this it is to old and need to be updated anyway.

This list may vary depending on what you are doing (sub box, making a mold, door panels).

looks about right to me. Depending on your project for instance if making a sub enclosure you'll want to step up that 1/4" mdf for some 3/4". The only tool that I think you omitted would be a router or a jigsaw to make the Mdf rings.

What is the Mixing bowl for?

i did a list similar to this in a thread requesting how much to build a box....i listed prces and places too.

Do you mix it in a bowl before hand then transfer it to something else...if so this seems like kind of a waste i usually pour the resin into a tin can and then add my hardner in there so I can just throw the whole thing away.

i use a pyrex measuring cup to pour/mix resin and hardener...then when im done just dump acetone in it and it washes right out, ready for the next batch!

as for the mixing bowl...you'll wanna use this to mix pancakes or birthday cakes...anything cake-related...dont forget to lick the spatula when your done :)-

I measure out the resin in a measuring cup, then pour it into the "mixing bowl" and add the hardener, and work out of this to apply the resin. This can be anyting from a throwaway cup to a bowl to whatever.

i pour some resin into a PLASTIC container of some sort.....add some MEKP and mix...if it doesent change colours i add a bit more, once a reddish brown i begin applying....measuring is a waist of time and is for ideal working / environmentally controled conditions..

by the way if you use plastic containers, once the left over (which if your doing things right there should be very little of) hardens it pops out and your ready for the next batch...if you let your brush harden into the left over you even have a handle for which to pull the leftover out with...brushes are cheap and dont involve volitile chemicals being dumped at landfills..quite polluting the environment with acetone and countless containers that cant be reused....

**EDIT** LOL...if you really want to save your 49 cent brush then i guess you can use a small container with acetone...LOL

i used washer fluid jugs mainly ( cut the bottom off about 1.5 - 2 inches from the bottom and use that.)....get about 20 uses out of one until it finally cracks...

once youve been doing this for long enough you get the feel for the resin/harderner ratios and can do it by eye
