I just finished my master part, its like a 2" x 1" spacer piece thats shaped all the way around. I'd like to duplicate them. I've seen some good tutorials like this one https://www.fbodyaudio.com/articleviewer.php?article=molds.tech but that seems a bit involved for a piece this small and perhaps not as well suited to something thats more of a doughnut shape.
What I'm thinking might work is to make my mold from this in something like either clay or maybe some mix at home silicone rubber, spray the mold with a lubricant, mix up some resin, pour it in, let it dry, pop it out. Its not load bearing so I don't think it needs fiberglass in it. I'd like the piece to be flat black and I'm thinking I might be able to mix in some black paint with the resin and even get a decent look right out of the mold with no finishing.
What do you guys think? Crazy? :D I'm relatively new to working with fiberglass and resin but it seems like it has a chance of not failing miserably.

Do you have a photo or conceptual sketch of what it is you are describing?

Here's what I've got now
I was hoping to maybe be able to do an open top mold and just trim one of the sides down when it came out, but the more I look at it, the more I think a 2 piece mold is the way to go even though it sounds like a much larger pain.
You might be better off not try to replicate them yourself at all. There is a website,
https://emachineshop.com/ that will let you design a piece then have a machine shop manufacture it cheaply. Might work out better for that piece.

*snaps his finger* auex was already ahead of me, was just about to link that. The cool thing about them, you can get whatever design in whatever material, then just have them ship it to you.
I am curious about their methods though, like what techniques they use to pull off the oddest objects in so many different material options.
