Well, I would not mind scribbling some ideas, will have to wait to probably friday night / saturday morning though.  I also have to see what the factory setup looks like....

What exact year and model is your car?

I am looking at the pictues of the interior (LINK) and in the rear, you have little pockets back there.  You ever thought about using that area as apart of a fiberglass enclosure?

Or do you just want a box, and be done with it?

Id have to agree! Put one sub on the left and one in the right in each pocket. Try and angle them up a little and towards the rear. As much towards the center of the glass on the back hatch ass possible. This will make them louder. Plus you will still have full access to the rear of the hatch.

From the look of it, he probably just had it sitting in there since it conformed to the shape of the space, the weight and shape probably holds it in place.

I would duplicate the Directed Electronics magnum box.  I'ts not really space efficent, but it's hella cool.

If you are willing to go out of flush a couple of inches, the 12s will fit without a problem...and still look good. My question would be whether or not you have enough air space behind it. With a little creativity, you can cover that as well.
