Hey everyone, this is my first time on the forums and i've been looking everywhere for a post about how much area a gallon of FG will cover when glassin an enclosure?

I want to start my own project and I am trying to figure out materials and an approximate cost... if anyone could help me that would be great!

Thanks

A gallon of fiberglass?

Do you mean, a gallon of resin for fiberglassing?

If that is the case, for the average box, I'd say a little over a quart (25% of a gallon) would do the trick, then again, it depends on just how large or small your enclosure is.

What are the dimensions of what you are building or want to fabricate?

it also depends on how many fiberglass projects you wish to tackle...it is considerably cheaper to buy your resin by the gallon...but if your only going to do one project or two then it is better to get it by the quart...resin has a self life and will tend to go nasty on you if left un attended for too long..

also it is cheaper to buy your mat off the roll rather then in packages

Typically 1ltr of resin is used with 1 metre square of matting

Oh wow, it seems to cover alot more area then I thought.

Here is the drawing of what i want to do. Only the front panel will be fibreglassed because i want to change the angles of the subs, the outside subs will face inward a bit, and the middle sub will be angle'd upwards.

I am also wondering, will I need to support the subs from inside? (something underneath holding them up to relieve stress on the front end?) What do you suggest?

My box was similar to yours, and no i didn't use anything to support the sub from the inside.  Just make sure you use plenty fiberglass mat especially around where the sub rig attaches to the box.

Thats a pretty sweet desing. My only suggestion would be to maybe think about angling the outer subs outward instead of inward. Inward subs might cancel each other out.

Out of this box i will be running

1 - PDX-1.1000watt Alpine Digital Amp

3 x 10" Alpine Type-R 1042D subs

I listen to alot of electronic music with fast snappy bass... so i figured 10's would provide the tight bass I require.

since type Rs can handle 500W RMS I would recommend only getting 2 instead of 3. 3 type Rs will be underpowered off of that amp. That is a sweet amp by the way. My budyy has one and its amazing.

Yea, was going to mention that too. It would defeat the purpose if you lacked power if all three of them are to contribute to the good vibration.
