I have a question about wrapping suede, I recently wrapped my dashboard in suede and it was my first crack at it and I got 2 or 3 places that gave me a hard time. 1 spot around a corner I got a small fold and I got a bubble or 2 in another spot... I was just wondering whats the best way to lay down suede? and also I just bought some vinyl and was wondering if its any different?

trial and error buy some cheep meteral and pratice. wraping is more of an art and face it some shapes  have to be stiched or in the case of vinyl applied with vacuume. now laying vinyl by hand is greatly helped by buying good stretchy vinyl and useing a heat gun. suede all i can say is pull as hard as you can when laying is down to get wrinkels out,

Heat gun, good glue, and lots of patience. Just make sure there are no sharp angles or complex curves.

4 way stretch material, great glue & someone showing you how it's done will be your best time & material saver.

what type of glue should I use? i've been using contact cement... the only real problem I had with the suede is around a corner and around a curve and thats it... but i'm a perfectionist so I gotta do it right

Two things I can suggest:

* If working with vinyl, start in the middle and work out to the edges. Wrinkles due to contour tend to 'accumulate' so the shortest path to an invisible edge is where you stick down. Similiar theory to tightening bolts on an engine head.

* Helps to have a friend to help stretch, you are talking stretching in many dimensions, glueing, and heating, that takes a few hands! especially if you are a beginner.
