Alright i searched and didnt really find anything on this particular question. I plan on redoing my head liner and I was wondering, do you only use glue? Is there any stapleing involved? and is it fairly easy to do?

Cloth headliner.....no staples. peel the old one off, SLOWLY. Get a wire brush and some duck (quack) tape. These are use to remove the foam backing of the headliner material that will remain on the board. There are other technics but they require other types of tools. Everyone has a wire brush and duct tape. Make sure ALL of the little chunks of foam are gone!! you want it S M O O T H.... Lay the board down, lay your material on it, trimming it to have a bit overlapping. Fold it half way back, spray the board, and the material lightly, let it tack up, then from the center out, smooth it with the palm of your hand. Go to the edge. Do the other half the same way. then turn it over and spray the edge of the back of the headliner board and roll the material over, and trim..leaving an inch to an inch and one half. P.S. the duct tape is used to remove the foam, roll it backwards on your hand and stroke!

I looked at my headliner foam today and it doesnt seem to be torn or anything, Is it possible for me to use the foam with my fabric so it will still be cushioned like the factory headliner

EDIT: Is there any specific spray glue to use of will any kind work?

That is the mis conseption.....(don't make fun of my spelling) You CANNOT use the foam that remains.......it will just "let go"! Scrape it off.....and start over !!!!

Im not using headliner material, i saw a pic of that ranger in the rides forums with Crushed Black velvet for the headliner, im gonna do the same with red or grey.

In that case.....make sure its EVEN CLEANER....and that the board is in good shape, to "hold it's shape" headliner material is very lite...most anything but that, is very heavy. Anything without the foam back will show all the imperfections of your job....the standard headliner material is VERY forgiving!

Joann fabrics sells a headliner spray glue. Its made specifically for that. Its also high heat resistant.

Yeah Im gonna try to do it my best the first time, and plus im sort of a perfectionist so if i dont like the way it looks right when i put it on ill redo it. and to killer, thanks i was thinking about joann fabrics to see if they have crushed velvet fabrics, so while im there ill just look for that glue
