mounting kick panels?

Hi, I am pretty new to this and ive been reading up on FG production. The only thing that im missin is when doin say... kick panels. How are those mounted if you dont mend them to the side trim pieces.? How do you mount any of it in general. All opions greatly appreciated Thanks

You can mount it to the sheet metal behind using speed nuts, or my favorite, a rivet-nut. It uses a hand tool similar to a riveter, the rivets simply have threads and a knurled shaft. Speed nuts are not my favorite...but they DO work. It can just be a pain to get it in place sometimes.

You definitely want it secure, the more it jumps around the less energy is being expended making sound.

every car is different, so unless someone on here has the same car as you, we wont be able to tell you exactly what to do. Basically you have to get creative with how you mount stuff. It can be a real pain trying to figure it out. When i do my kick panels i just plan to fiberglass over the original piece and use the original mounting locations to hold mine in place. Thats probably the easiest way to go, if thats an option.

well i have a 97 dodge ram and i think ill do it that way seems to be the easiest way... do you think i should cut off the small piece that would be behind the mold or use that as part of it?

Do you mean the piece that will be behind the speaker after you make the shape you want? If so then yeah i would cut it out, you might have to in order to clear the speaker.
