Fiberglass sub box for a Diamond D6 (on backorder, so I've been a little lazy about finishing it)  I have buildup pictures if anyone is interested.

Question: How should I deal with the extra fiberglass on the side?  I know I can't sand it all down because that's the seal with the MDF.  I realized you're supposed to notch the edges, but not until I had laid the first layer of glass.

Sand it down flat and lay some mat on the inside creases. That will keep your glass to mdf seal. I do it all the time.

Good job, keep it up.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Take a utility knife and cut off the heads of the heat rivets.  Then just take screws that are similar to the three that hold the panel on in addition to the rivets, and screw them in place of the rivets.  It's not that hard, the hardest part is getting the suede to sit correctly with the vinyl, because the panel is all covered in vinyl, with that cloth segment on top of that.

you could used duraglass on the inside of the enclosure...its thick enough if you stand the box up so that the side you need to get thicker is on the ground it wont run....if you dont have duraglass you can mix sawdust and resin and apply it in the same manner...its usually a little messier becuz you kind of have to pour it in but once its kicked its solid

So i finished that box up, covered it in suede, and got it all installed. Sounded pretty good, but I didn't like the idea of not being able to fold down the seats and use the whole trunk, so I started over with a sealed box going in the back left corner of the trunk, this time all fiberglass.   I'm almost done glassing it, suprisingly it only took around 8 hours so far.  I plan on painting some rubberized undercoating on this instead of going with suede.  I'll start a new topic with progress/final pics when I finish it.
