Hello everyone, first off I want to start off by saying that this site is GREAT!! I have been reading here for a while, and seeing how helpful everyone is, also have had a lot of questions answered. I also order the caraudiohelp.com DVD set for FG fab.

Well I am going to be getting ready to start on my first fiberglass project, and I just needed an Idea on how I should set up my trunk. It will be going in a 98 Lexus GS400. The reason I am asking is because I am running 2 diff. brands of amps, 1 JL 1000/1 for the sub, and a PPI 4100 for the highs and mids. The 4100 is about 5-6 inches longer then the JL 1000/1. I also chose this amp for its clarity, and also because it has a plexiglass/lexan back and I want to mount it to be able to see the insides of the amp).

I was thinking of fiberglassing the whole trunk, starting from the weather strip, false floor, amps racks, and a sub box, and maybe mount the Z6 crossovers in the trunk with the set up. I will take some pictures of the trunk tomorrow with and without the equipment and post them, because I need some pointers on where and how I should mount the amps.

This is what the system is going to consist of..

H/U Eclipse AVN 5500 with an Audio Control 3.1 EQ

mids and highs Boston Acoustics Z6 front, and Boston acoustics Pro 6.5 rear

Sub amp JL 1000/1 mids and high PPI 4100

AlumaPro Cap 5, a lot of dynamat, upgrade big 3, and probably 2 optima batteries.

Personally I wouldn't go all fiberglass in the rear. Mix up the materials so that it blends and is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The car itself is very classy and if it were mine I would wrap it in vinyl, paint accent/trim peices for the stereo and add some carpet to mix it up a bit. Post your pics of the equipment and see what other responses you will get.

Thanks for the reply Jeff, I was thinking of making everything out of a wood frame, fiberflass the side panels, make the subwoofer box all from MDF but the front of the box from f/g, and the maybe the amp rack in f/g sitting under the false floor (MDF), with plexi to show the amps.

I have to agree with jeff. I fiberglassed and I assume painted trunk is cool for hondas but for a lexus, you need something not so, well, ricey. Jeff's idea of mixing up vinyl, paint and carpets as well as other materials like aluminum and plexi really adds a nice touch. Gives variety I guess, if done properly, people who look it couldnotice something the second time that they didnt see the first
