Whats up yall. Trying to fg the door panel on a 98 civic ex coupe. Not doin the whole door at this time, but i am doin the area were the factory speaker was, i want to fg right there but the tape wont stick to the plastic. I heard some where on here that i could use car wax and then apply fg and resin, is this right or is there another way. Thanks in advance for any responses, and yes i will post pics. I didnt the one door panel with the tape just barley on and i did the back panel.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you concerned with masking the area off or getting the fiberglass to stick to the plastic? Some pics or a better explanation would be helpful.

What i am trying to do is lay fiberglass on the door panel but i cant get the tape to stick to it because of the plastic and vinyl its made of. So my question is what else can i use instead of the tape, can i use the car wax to create a barrier between the resin and the plastic or should i just lay the resin on the plastic since it wouldnt stick to it?

Dont use wax, even if it doesnt fully adhere to the door, you will be left with a mess. Have you tried tin foil yet? I works well, just use a few layers of it.

if you want the tape to stick, wipe the area you want to mask with rubbing alcohol and a clean, dry cloth a coupl eof time and then it will stick well.  just use a little armor-all or something afterwards to bring back the shine when you're done with your project

if that doesn't work, try a little paint thinner or naptha, i'd recommend paint thinner first, and you might also loose some color doing this, but if you are gonna fiberglass it, who cares right???
