Hello guys,.... This is my first time posting on the forum... and infact my first time doing a fiberglass/body filler project. I am in the process of building a gauge pod for my Impala. It was working out really well. I covered it with an old shirt and put the resin on... it hardened really well and looked good. Then I took 80 grit and gave it a light scuffing. Then I mixed body filler and resin 5:1.... and put it on the pods... but I didn't put nearly enough hardner. So after I realized that I screwed up I decided to wipe it all down with a clean rag. I got as much as I could off but it was still a mess. So I mixed the body filler and resin again this time with the right amount of hardner and put it on. It came out alright but I am wondering... will the light amount of body filler that is not mixed with hardner underneath harden with the new properly mixed body filler on top. I am only asking because I know that you hit it with 80 before putting it on so that the body filler bites and holds. I am worried about this filler cracking or chipping underneath. Should I be concerned or am I out of my mind. Also, I need to build the surface up a bit. Can I keep sanding and adding body filler??? Thanks, Dan ------------- 1971 Chevelle SS

You should be OK with it as long as you wiped off most of it. For future reference if you do that again, you can use a paint thinner/gun wash to clean off the body filler and this will dilute the filler enough to clean it off the pod.

I did something similar on my sub box. I was tired and a bit out of it and decided to go do a layer of glass, easy stuff. I measured out my mekp, resin and cut my mat. I stirred up the resin, layed the mat and resin'd away, came out a few hours later and it hadnt set up yet, waited till morning still nothing. I went and checked the measuring cup and the mekp was still in it!! I peeled everything off and wiped it down with acetone, mixed up double mekp in the next batch and everything turned out fine. At least you put some hardner in it.
