You're making the deck lid part of the sub box? Or just bringing in the bass through the deck lid with the subs in the trunk? Please give us all the details before you ask. We don't know what subs, what size, what box, etc. etc. There isn't much for us to work with to get you a fair answer.

to be honest, the prefab box ur using prolly isn't doing the cvx's any justice. I would look at the specs in themanual/online  and build the proper box first. It can make all the difference. Portinf the back deck would probably be all gueswork. Remember you could possibly end up with worse sound coming from "port noise".

I have a 95 Impala SS and I wanted the same thing.
I cut a hole in the metal back dash.
I cut a hole in the sound deading material ontop of the rear deck
I then cut some wood and covered it with vinyl.
Then I took some regular window screen and used that to cover the hole.
Here is a picture

I am now in the process of building a full fiberglass rear deck with port molded in
I will be done in about a month and will post a pic on this post for you
Hope this helped some

just cut a large hole in the rear deck, frame out the hole, and wrap the frame with grill cloth
