Hi all,
I am new to this forum and am looking to gain some knowlege and advise. I did use the search tool for this post, but this is my design so I am wondering if it will work.
I will be doing a custom trunk install in 1992 240sx S13 Hatchback. I have two Alpine Type R's Subwoofers @ 4ohms https://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SWR-1242D
Currently i do not have the amps two push them, but i will be getting good amps to push them to there peak. I was possibly thinking of getting two of the Alpine PDX 1.1000 https://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=PDX-1.1000
But cost is an issue and these are expensive...but i am going to get something that puts them to there peak.
So, I was thinking about making a custom box to fit in the hatch of the 92 240sx. and have everything mounted down includes the amps on a separate peice. Then on top of that have a large peice of custom molded fiberglass design that can easily be removed, revealing the custom box and amps mounted to the floor.
I have attached some pictures to explain myself a little better.
The dimensions of the box are in the picture.
The first picture is just a basic layout. It is a top view and does not have any angles involved in it.
The Second is my box design.
The amp portion will be a separate piece under the fiberglass overlay.

Now: 1. should I have a piece of wood dividing the subwoofers within the box? 2. I have two port wholes per sub, for a total of 4 @ 4inches in diameter each. Will that work? suggestions? 3. Is the size of my box okay? the volume of the box? The dimensions just show to the exterior..so assume 3/4 inch mdf board? 4. Should the subs be in the shown position..or can i invert them? etc.
That is the box design. So that is my first thing. My second is my amps mounted to a board that will be flush with the box. Then I will have the piece of custom molded fiberglass sit onto of everything and fit flush. But that is my last priority. For right now i am just concerned about the box design. Size? volume? port holes? etc.
Thanks very much in advance,
I hope that I am sounding clear, if not just ask and i will try to clarify.]

Here are two more mods to the box.
The first featuring a divider in the middle of the box, separating the two.

The Second featuring the separted piece in the middle...and a piece going down ...forcing the air to the bottom of the box...and then up through the port holes.

Which is the best idea? or what will work the best?
