Does anybody have an idea how well those secret CB antennas work? They are the ones that plug into your stock (AM/FM) antenna and claim that they can give you the same reception. I'm gonna go on a trip in a few weeks and was gonna hook up my old CB for safety. I know that less and less people use CBs nowadays, but it's still good for traffic and smokey reports. Any reviews?

If all you are going to do is listen to the reports then the line splitters work fine and should work well. But to transmit you really need a tuned antenna for the proper frequency. CB's transmit around 27MHz and you need a base loaded antenna cut to the proper length to transmit properly, otherwise all of your power output is reflected back down the transmitters throat.
Hope the road rises to meet you and the wind is at your back!

I did end up getting a base-loaded antenna because I just didn't trust the claims that I was hearing. Thanks copcarguy!
