We all know about those bogus ads for that little decal of a circuit, which you put under your cell phone battery, and all you do is waste your money. However, what I am looking for is something which you can REALLY improve your signal, not just some hype. I have a Nokia 3585i Cell phone, on Sprint's network. I have poor signal inside my house, and in a few other towns near me, and when I have a poor signal, my battery enjoys killing itself [like fully charged battery to dead, just in 8 hours of 10% signal]. I could switch my service elsewhere, but that's just too much hassle, and I like Sprint's plan. Now, here is what I want to do, I want a small circuit which I can tie into the antenna somewhere, so it will boost the signal, sufficiant enough so I can use it in area's I couldn't, and not kill my battery. Any suggestions?

Well, the problem is, I am under my mom's plan, which of course means I can't switch, but she has to. I have talked to her about this and she won't go for it, because she runs her business through her cell. In January I am eligable for a $150 off a new phone from sprint. My whole idea was crushed because of budget problems, and the fact I don't have schematics for the phone. If the signal doesn't change with the new phone, I am either going to experiment with different companies, or just go big or go broke, and dig into my old cell phone to try to get a better signal throught that. So basically my quest has ended, but thanks for your reply!

there are some manufactuers that have signal amps, but they would require power and a cable to the phone. or you could spend some bucks and install a reapeater. i dunno its just SPRINT...how much to spend? hmmm ------------- Rich Hawthorne

Alltel is by far worse than Sprint (my brother is an upper management guy at Alltel and has "someone else's" service for his own cell) and as I thought Verizon was ok, they too are proving they don't have a clue either. Its too expensive of a service for the technology to be where its at today. ------------- Subtlety is EVERYTHING.

Sounds like you just need a new phone. These days, you can get a phone for free. I've seen situations where this solved the problem with sprint or other phone companies. Even if the battery holds a charge, sometimes older batteries can affect reception. Try a new battery if it's not too expensive or try a whole new phone (newer model)
