Parrot CK3100 and Amplifiers

Hi I wonder if anyone can help.

I’ve a JVC KD SH707 Stereo and a Parrot CK3100.

At the moment the JVC head unit is driving the 4 speakers directly from the head unit.

The Parrot unit is wired inline though the included adapter cable to the JVC and automatically sends the sound to my cars speakers when I receive or make a call.

The muting is done via the parrot control box. I don’t have a phone mute cable on the head unit so I’m not using the line out cables from the CK3100. (The JVC line-in is also taken up by my JVC CD changer)

I want to add an amp into my setup to power the front speakers and a sub.

The JVC has 3 pre-outs sets, front, back and sub. I’ll be sending the front and sub outputs to a 4 channel amp using the front channel for the front speakers and the rear channel on the amp for the sub.

The rear speakers will continue to be powered off the head unit. I’m planning to run the front speaker wires back up to the head unit, where I’ll connect them to the existing ISO loom to feed off to the actual speakers via the existing car wiring. (Obviously won’t be connecting the front JVC ISO output up as well)

How can I get the CK3100 to work with this setup?

At the moment think I’ve two possible solutions.

I could just connect the CK3100 back inline on the front speakers after they’ve come back from the amp (as it is now in effect), but I’ve heard the relay in the parrot unit might not be able to cope with the higher amplified signal. Also this wouldn’t mute the sub. (Not the end of the world I can just turn the stereo down)

I could swap the CK3100 to intercept the back speaker feed from the head unit and just manually turn the stereo down when I receive a call.

Are there any adapter leads that would help? Or any other setups that would allow me to use the CK3100 with the amp?

Did you find a solution for this?   I have the exact situation adn I am trying to figure a good solution.

Yes,

I put the parrot unit back in line after the amplification.

You’ll need to break the speaker out lines from the HU before they attach to the parrot loom.

Then,

Take the line output from the HU to the amp as normal.

Take the amplified speaker out, back from the amp and connect to the speaker input on the Parrot unit.

If running fully active and amplifying front and back speakers, its easy just do as above.

If like me you’re using the front channel on the amp for the front speakers and rear channel for the sub. Just break the front speaker out from the HU. Leave the rear HU output running straight through.

Wiring this way will enable the parrot unit to mute the HU sound output when you use it. Even if your HU does not have a mute lead.

My HU doesn’t have a mute lead, but the above configuration works fine. However at the moment it doesn’t mute the sub.
To handle the sub output if you’ve not got a mute, you’ll need to use a relay to cut the line output from the HU when it detects a voltage from the mute lead on the parrot unit.
I haven’t done this yet as I normally just reach over and turn the unit down. With it being just sub level, I find I can make / receive calls with it staying on.

I've had the above setup running for a couple of months now with no problem, The parrot unit has no problem cutting into the amplified speaker output.
