Hello everyone. I just purchased a 2006 Chevy Avalanche with the Bose sound system. I have the 6 disc in-dash CD changer with XM satellite radio. I have a cell phone car kit that will allow me to use a factory speaker as the cell phone kit speaker. It will interrupt the stereo signal going to the driver front speaker when there's a call and let the signal pass through when there is no cell phone call.
What I need to know is, which wires are the ones going to the driver front speaker that I need to interrupt and where is the best place to interrupt them?
And... I want to hook up the muting feature from the cell phone kit to the speakers so that the rest of the speakers will mute when a call comes through (like OnStar does). Is there a wire to use or must I buy an aftermarket kit?

I just purchased a GMCELL from SoundGate to integrate my cell phone kit into my 2006 Avalanche. Since I have OnStar active, I called SoundGate and got the wiring diagram for the relay system to allow me to keep my OnStar functionality. Did anyone try this with their GM vehicle?
Does the GMCELL with the relays give priority to the cell phone kit or to the OnStar?
Does the radio mute for the OnStar and the cell phone kit?
I ask all this because, by the looks of the diagram, it appears that the cell phone kit has priority over the OnStar. It also appears that the mute wire for the OnStar is not hooked up at all but the mute wire for the cell phone kit is. Does this mean that when OnStar comes through, that the front speakers will play the OnStar but it won't mute the rear speakers?
I just ordered, received, and installed a new harness that is an excellent alternative to the GMCELL by SoundGate. It's called a JNS harness. You can look at one here...

But, you loose OnStar. In order to keep OnStar, you have to set up two relays. Eventually, SoundGate will come out with a replacement for the GMCELL which will allow you to keep your OnStar. But, there is still the issue of splicing and cutting wires to install your hands-free kit.
I discovered the JNS harness (model CHE-0304). As you can tell from the website I provided. The JNS harness allows you to plug it in behind the factory radio, and plug the other ends into your cell phone kit. The only splicing you have to do is one wire (the accessory turn-on wire, which I wired to my cigarette lighter). Now, I have a THB Bury car kit for my SmartPhone. THB mainly makes kits for SmartPhones. This harness will also work for Nokia and Motorola kits. It states that if you have a Nokia or Motorola kit, you have to use the speaker provided with the kit. If you want to use the factory speakers with the harness, you just need to splice the speaker wires from the Nokia or Motorola cell phone kit to the speaker plug on the harness.
The JNS harness will allow you to keep OnStar functionality AND your cell phone kit. If you have a JNS harness and look at it, basically the car kit speaker wires and mute wire are spliced in with the OnStar wires. The only downside is that the cell phone kit gets priority over the OnStar. But, I'm sure if you knew what you were doing with relays, you could fix that.
