so there isnt a kit for the sidekick so im looking to take my spare earpiece and making my own. now heres my thoughts on how to do it so if im wrong someone give me their advice. so the earpiece has a audio in and out, so im going to take a factory gm mic and splice that on as the mic for the earpiece and put a RCA end on the earpiece and run it into the aux in on my indash. It all seems fine, but what i wish it had was a signal sence that could mute my radio when it rings. and ideas on that??

the easiest way to find a radio mute on a car radio is to use a 12v test  lamp. the type that u clip onto an earth with one end and in the other it has a bulb incased with a metal spike. so whenever u touch a positive with ur spike the bulb lights up!!

right remove ur radio and find the radio plug in the back of it. next clip on ur test lamp to earth and probe each cable entry in the plug once u have probed the right 1 the radio will go silent. it will probley be 1 with no cable in the hole. in 99.9% of cases this will find ur wire for u. hope u get ur hf completed now :-))

what phone are you using?  If your deck does not have a mute input , you may have to get into the radio to switch to aux once the phone goes into receive.  I need to think about this one for awhile.

my radio has a mute wire, im saying that i have no way to trigger a mute wire using my setup. my boss told me today that i might be able to trigger a relay with the audio out + wire. i might have to use a 5v relay though.
