We are quite new to the blue tooth phnomona here [as ya can see from my past few posts] I was an old cell/2way guy fr about 8 years so II know the concept. I guess myy question is, how do you figure out where YOU as an installer stop with customers and their bluetooth kit / features?.. With all the diferent phones and such, some download the entire phone book, some you have to punch each one seperately. I had a guy today, loved the kit but can't get his whole list of conacts in, now he's upset.. I can't see makeing any money off these things if you have to spoon feed your customers, and spend 3 hr's trying to get theiir phones to play nice... What is the commen practice out there for these little boondogggels? anyone?

I install the system and pair the phone if it is availible. Thats it. I have had similar issues with customers. They should read the instructions just like when we install stereo systems, we do not go over the features af the system and show them how to use it. I use the parrot car kits. They are simple and easy to install and download the phone book automatically.

damn i hate that too ive installed numerous BT kits and my phone always works fine but always have issues with customers phones especially the more high end phones. at our company we are supposed to give a customer a run down on things so i get stuck helping them out....i eventually tell them to figure it out themselves.

We use this as a guideline. As an installer, we install the kit and set up the customer's phone to work. We then have additional rates for additional services, like transferring phone books, pairing second phones etc. We make this clear prior to doing the installation so that they know not to push their luck and waste our time. Also, people who pay for these services actually listen, and therefore do it right, as opposed to those who don't listen and constantly call us to find out this and that and so on.
