I have auto headlights but don't want to lose this function now that I have HID's. The biggest issue is that the auto headlight function turns the headlights on as soon as the ignition is turned on so when the starter is engaged there is a great voltage drop usually resulting in one or both of them turning off. (yes, I know this is horrible for my bulbs and possibly my ballasts/ignitors, I manually disable the auto-headlights at night until after the vehicle is running)

So, I would like there to be about a 2 second delay until the ballasts receive +12v. A few second delay before they shut off after the ignition shuts off would be nice as well.

I'm also having issues with my factory wiring not giving a constant signal which I have been able to counteract by using this:

Would there be any way to incorporate this into this aswell without using extra relays? I will use transistors and/or capacitors if needed, I just want this to work.

Not sure if it can handle the amps, but maybe someone else can verify? I would get 2 of them and have them set the delay time to 2 secs. If they're even a 1/4 second off, you'll notice one headlight coming on before the other. I'm not sure if one of these can work both headlights. They'd have to be line before the 12v gets to the ballasts.

i haven't the slightest clue how to make one, but i'm guessing the price of each individual component (if you can even purchase all of them) would be more than $32. Plus it's already built for you, and they guarantee it works.

I don't even know where you could find the schematic for it- maybe a similar one, but who knows if it'll even work for your needs.

If you set the parking brake when parking, would that keep the automatic lights from coming on until you release the brake? Worth a try.
