Not all brake lights are created equal. You purchased a single element type bulb. Your car requires a dual element type bulb. The second element is the tail light. When you hit your brakes (since you modified the contacts on back of the bulb) the voltage for the brake light is now feeding power to your taillights. This is turning on your dash and also your front parking lights. Since we do not know what kind of car you have the following is an assumption. You purchased an 1156 bulb and you needed an 1157.
