hi, i have bought a very cheap EL Glow kit from china (ebay), the paper itself was a good price, however the inverters shipped with the kit seem pretty cheap. the most annoying part of them is that when on, they emmit a very high pitched whine that is pretty loud. im wondering if anone can point me in the direction of a replacment 12v inverter for the paper i can use instead. one that hopefully wont make a noise or a very very faint one.

unfortunately there is no voltage information available with the inverters so i cant tell you what kind of power they take or give out, but i know i need 12v input for the car.

thanks

Would sound deadner be a solution for you?   The noise is probably coming from the transformer, is it possible to remove the cover to inspect the transformer.  Some amp manufacturers coat their transformers with epoxy to quiet them down.

im not sure the inverter does get quite warm when running, and i wouldnt want to cause a fire hazzard behind the dash. i dont think it gets as hot as my stereo would but i do worry about it. do you have any examples of what i might be able to use?

Can you open the case and using a dowel rod or some other non conductive item and apply a little pressure to the transformer to see if the noise quietens a little?
