Hi guys I put 2 super bright LEDs in my dash(they tell me that the ECU is running in closed loop and other functions too)the normal LEDs in the day time where to dull and these are too bright at night so I wanted to put a DPDT switch in with one/two Resistors on the switch to have one position for full power and the other position say half power for the night time..

The two LEDs are 3.6v each and are wired Independent of each other(one lean mixture and one rich)

How do I wire this with the switch and what Resistors would I use?

Thanks guysposted_image

What value resistor are you using currently?  Or does the controller only put out 3.6 volts?

Thanks, I just knew I would leave out somethingposted_image Yeah not using any resistors as the outputs are 3.0v posted_image

Thanks buddyposted_image

I've got the style of DPDT switch picked out and will grab some resistors while I'm out tomorrow. posted_image

The picture is just to show the look of what I'll useposted_image

When finished I let you know how it went...Thanks again...

Hey I'm back with a update and I couldn't get any 300ohm Resistors so I got some 328ohm ones and tried that today and you can see the difference when you flick the switch but is still to bright...

Then I did something else and scratched my head as it didn't seem to make any further change and that was to have 3 Resistors in series!

Help please posted_image

Was there any difference between one resistor and the 3 in series? If it did make a difference but it was only a minor difference, try a 2.2K or a 3.3K. If you had 3 of the 328 ohm resistors in series, you had a total of 984 ohms. or basically 1K. If it is a task to get to the parts store, get several values between 2.2K and 10K.

posted_image posted_image I have put all 15 Resistors together and now have a total ohms reading of 4.49K and is getting better but still a bit to bright...

No difference between one resistor and the 3 in series!!!

sorry I was doing this and then seen your replyposted_image

Don't worry about the odd ohms reading as it was made up of 5 328's + 5 224's + 4 380's + 1 40 resistors posted_image

All done and works fantastic, ended up being the 10K that worked the best...

There's a Photo if anyone wants to see the set upposted_image

Looks as though my initial suggestion for 300 Ohms might have been off by just a bit.  Sorry you had to make so many trips to the parts store, and we always like pictures.  They're easier than reading.
