I have a 98 dodge neon. i had my radio out to rewire a speaker wire that came undone. while i was in there i decided to re-tape all my wires to be sure they were okay. as i did the main power cable, it slipped out of my hand and touched the metal housing for the radio. it blew the radio fuse. i replaced it but didnt have any power to the wire. i just ran a new wire directly from the battery. but since then my DOME LIGHT and TRUNK LIGHT will not work. ive checked their fuse many times and its fine. the bulbs are fine have replaced them both. the sockets aren't getting any power at all. all other interior lights are fine. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE?

There IS a blown fuse somewhere. The fuse will not be labeled radio. It will possibly labeled Dome.

Try cheking the fuses under the hood.

And what is the first rule...Dis-connect power first... ...Some cars have more then one fuse box...Some are under the hood , backseat , trunk , door jamb , etc... Also...did you fuse that new wire you ran from the battery...? If not, insert a fuse close to the connection you made at battery...! ------------- M.E.C.P & First-Class

ive checked every damn fuse in the piece of doodie. every one is good. so it is not a fuse. the service manual says the dome and trunk lights are on the same fuse as the dash illumination lights but my dash lights still work

Are there any empty slots in the fuseboxes?

How are you checkin your fuses? Use a meter and go through each and every fuse and I bet you will find a blown fuse somewhere....

I know it's not the right way but try running a wire from ur ignition with a inline fuse (15amp) and tap it to ur constant wire or depending on the wire that needs power. Hope this help with the radio for sure and hopefully the dome light.

Do you get power on the pink wire at the under hood lamp?
How about the pink wire at the glove box light?

ok thanks to every body for trying to help nut nobody has so far. like i said i knew it wasnt a fuse. i fixed it last nite. i had my headliner off to put in a new one and just ran all new wires to my dome and trunk light. they are still on the same fuse and i didnt have to replace it. apparently the wire was broke off inside the insulation becuz dodge thought it was smart to use aluminum wire. aluminum wire gets brittle after a while tho. replaced it all with 16 gauge copper wire. PROBLEM SOLVED NO MORE HELP NEEDED

So when you let go of the radios power wire it caused the vehicle to shake violently and broke the wire...??? ------------- M.E.C.P & First-Class
