Ok we just went out and got some of the Optix EL Wire from street glow. Their instructions leave a lot to the imagination.

https://www.streetglow.com/site/Media/Manuals/elwire.pdf

This is the manual. What we dont understand is the wiring diagram. It says to run the transformer wires to a 12v fused source and the other wire to the switch. Problem is it dont tell you which wire. Theres a red wire and a black wire. So thats what loses us. Im assuming that we run the red wire to the 12v source and the black wire to the switch. But we dont really want to make assumptions and screw anything up.

Could anyone please give us a hand right quick????????

Red is positive and black is ground.  It does not matter which wire you insert the switch into.  If you connect red to a power source and connect the black wire to the switch, then ground the other leg of the switch, that will work.  Grounding the black wire directly to the chassis os the vehicle, then running the red wire to the switch and connecting the other leg of the switch to a fused power source, will work just as well.

Ground the black wire coming fron transformer. Red wire coming from transformer gets hooked to a switch then the other end of the switch to a 12v source.
