I would like to install a momentary switch to turn on my backup/reverse lights regardless if I am in reverse or not, without causing issues to the normal reverse lights function.
I will do this in my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
I just wanted to connect to the reverse lights fuse, but was unable to locate one. So it seems like a will have to make a run to the lights which is not a problem. I have where to take the power, run it to the momentary switch, then run wires to the lights, but then I am stuck.
Where to connect to +ve or to -ve, where and what do I need, relays, fuses, etc?
Please advice if you can,
Thanks.

Are you still interested in doing this? I think I know what you can do. Most Jeep GK have the same wiring diagrams. Your reverse light wire should be White with a light green strip... located at the IPM (integrated power module) on the fender behind the battery. I would start there.. or perhaps this wire can be seen in the kick panel or under dash.

Yes, I still want to do it, and I will look and trace this wire. Do you know what specific connections I will have to make and what components I need to include to make this work?
Thanks.

Simple! Locate the wire that goes live when you put in the reverse gear, cut this wire in half and insert a relay and wire like this Pin 30 - To the side from the lights Pin 87@ - to the other side of the cut wire Pin 87 and 86 - Constant twelve fused at say 5 amps Pin 85 - To one side of the momentary switch and the other side goes to ground! ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

Try This
It's the OEM install guide for a backup camera.

Thanks, this looks exactly like what I needed. From the diagrams it looks like I can tap this wire in the post by the pedals.
Few questions:
1. Is the Jeep's original backup camera powered by the backup lights, will the camera appear on the screen, when I hit the switch? I don't really need it, since the Mygig Lockpick has this option already.
2. Is the 5 amp fuse from the constant power sufficient and the only fuse I will need for this?

Are these all the items what I will need to connect the momentary switch to the reverse lights?
