I have a Ungo RK1 (clarion)remote start. The LED that came with the system used to be a nice BRIGHT blue color at night. Ungo call it Hyper Blue LED. It's a status light. Has two wires that come out of the main box (red and blue)

The light over the last couple of weeks has gotten dimmer. It is still visible at night but not so much during the day...

What could be the problem ?

Check your ground and power connections with the alarm system. Otherwise, I would guess your car battery may be dying out. Not storing enough reserve power. LEDs are very sensitive to power fluctuations. I am guessing your car battery might be going.

I will check the grounds and power connections as you suggest. Whoever installed this remote made a mess (but that's a different story)

The car is actually a diesel truck with two 1000 CCA batteries. So i hope that's not a problem.

Could it be the LED itself ?

The little research I made is that the Ungo (Clarion system) I have is the same as Viper 160....

it can be the leds there is a resistor going bad. this happen when there is incorrect resistor. best way to check and see when leds are on touch the resistor and see if it is hot it should be cool or a little warm but not hot or recheck your connection something maybe loose or you will need to install diodes. Leds use minimal amps. Also test the lights on when car is off. if the leds are dims check battery . And test when car is if they get brighter then recharge batteries

It's not a 12V system running off one battery in a 24V vehicle? (As opposed to 12V parallel batteries or 12V via a converter or 24V off 24V?)
