1998 Dodge Stratus
Occasionally my signals stop blinking. Over time it's seems to happen more frequent. They could work all day and that not work sometimes the next.
From what I've read this issue could be a few things. And I'm open for answers if anyone has one.
I was gonna go with replacing the flasher relay. I have searched all over the internet for a flasher relay for my car. Does it not have one? Is it called something else?
Any help would be appreciated!
The flasher is probably under the dash or in the kick panel area. If it only the LEFT or the RIGHT that not working, then I would replace the flasher relay.
If they BOTH will not work at the same time, then it could be something else.
Sometimes as a car gets older, the contacts for the flasher in the steering column get worn out and that module would also need to be replaced.
If you have a volt meter you could test this yourself during a time of non functionality.
If you know where the flasher is, pull one out and find some numbers on it to google, and call the local auto parts stores.
If it's a typical 12v flasher, finding another one from a similar vehicle might work.
Does your relay have this written on it?

Also check the connection to/from the flasher can and switch etc - disconnect & reconnect all connectors & the can; rotate all same-sized fuses (but NOT airbag & ECU etc fuses).
Older cans were thermo-electric and would stop flashing with low voltages or bad lamp connections (hence need to check bulb circuits too!). (They would normally stop with the bulbs remaining lit.)
But newer cans are usually electronic and - other than the usual blown main-bulb fast flashing - should flash no matter what.
Hence I suspect a bad connection to the switch/can.
(I had the same intermittent over the past few months - occasionally nothing. I merely disconnected/reconnected the under-dash connector to the steering wheel switch - problem fixed. Next might have been inspection of switch contacts - yech!)
