OK Virginia just made a stupid law about neon lights. the law has the neon lights no longer installable on a road worthy car do to the fact that the lights need to be turned on when the cars lights are on.So my way around this is have a switch that automatically turns the lights of when the car is put in to any gear that allows the car to move any thoughts on how this can be done?

it's a 1992 ford mustang lx 2.3 motor and four speed automatic

Neon lights are illegal anywhere on or in a motor vehicle in Virginia, unless they are covered and unlit while the vehicle is being operated on a public highway.

mount a mircoswitch on your gear selector switch to drive a relay to turn on neons provide light switch is on that will only provide power when car is on park
