Heres the deal. Ive got an autopage alarm and i switched out the normal flashing LED light and wired in an extra bright LED. Well it worked for a while and now it stopped working, i touched the wires to my battery and the LED still lights up just not when wired to the harness going to the autopage's brain. Autopage told me that their LEDs are 3 volts, could my LED be a 12 volt LED? If so, what can i do to get this bright LED to start flashing again, some kind of resistor i can put in-line or something?

LEDS are either 1.7 or 3.4V (hence ~2V & ~3V).
A 12V LED is a LED with a dropping resistor.

If your LED lights off 12V and does NOT blow, thn it probably is a "12V" LED.

Try it on 3-4V instead (eg - 2 or 3 1.5V cells).
