i would like to power an ebay backup camera video will be in the in-dash display. from general internet searches, i see videos on using quick splices tab into either the right or the left tailight. is this a good method if so, will this method send constant power to the camera? thanks.

It will only send power to the camera when the lamp is illuminated.  I can only imagine that you are talking about tapping into the reverse light wire.  The camera will only get power when the back up lights are illuminated.

thanks for the reply. for some reason, i didn't receive a reply email message note sent to my email address.

do you mean the tail light circuit is turned on when i turn on the headlight switch? since i will be dealing with tight parking spots, i need the camera to be turned on while changing transmission gears. any suggestion?

Do you want the camera on all the time?  I have of them on 2 cars they were on clearance $25 each at the local wal mart.  i pulled power for camera from the license tag light so its not on all the time but i can use it if in reverse or not.  My wife was saying the view screen was getting hot since it plugs into cigarett lighter for power and hers is allways hot on chevy  while the one for my toyota tundra is only hot with key on.  So if you need camera on other times besides reverse get power from tail lights or tag light if you only want it to work when backing up get it from reverse light.  I used the clipon conectors on one car have not had problem yet but have heard they dont allways work well and my come loose later on down the road.  if you know how to soder and heat shrink wires together thats the safer bet for the long term.
