hi, need help!! I have pilot grille lights that have the option of either flashing back and forth or staying completely lit. The lights have 3 wires, red, yellow and black. I have it wired to a red switch thats has power, GND and , switch terminal. I wanna wire it so i can add a toggle to give it power on and off but every time i try to ground i blow the fuse..Please help!!!

I'm only relying because no one else has....

I assume red is +12V and black is ground.

Yellow selects flash or constant.

But what turns power ON to the lights? A separate switch or relay presumably....

Now, which fuse is blowing?
What size is it?
And what power are your lights?

Really you should be detailing the wiring diagram or supplying more information.... my wiring assumptions may be incorrect...
Yellow may be an analog else control (pulsed or on) signal...
Yellow may be "constant" 12V...
Yellow may be power for flashing and Red is constant on....

The latter is the most likely for primitive systems.

thank you so much for replyin, i read the instructions,  the red and yellow are wired to power depending if i want flashing or steady and blk is ground. what i did was i wired the switch which has 3 prongs its a red rocker type, the red to + on switch, the yellow to middle prong and blk to - on switch. it worked great i can alternate between the 2 but i wantd to wire in a toggle which would let me cut off power all together in other words the toggle would send power to the rocker switch and i can able to alternate.  thanks for any suggestions i just drawing a blank, gonna try and post a pic

Don't connect the black to the switch - you are connecting +12V to ground....

Isn't the rocker a 3 position... on-off-on?
Hence red & yellow from either end, and (fused) power to the center?

Not that I understand why another on/off toggle is required, but that can be placed in the power input.

rocker switch just on off thats it.  I wanna use another switch as a cut off instead of wiring into my parking lites.  the rocker switch enables me to switch from steady to flashing lites. i just wanna be able to wire into the battery off the bat and have a switch that turns the rocker on so i dont have to turn my lites on to power them

So wire from batt via fuse to center of the rocker.
Then rocker to either side for the on.

Or what am I not understanding?
