I have limited experience with hids so excuse me if the question is lame, how come the ballast has an effect on the colour of the bulb in an hid kit? Reason i ask is i installed a pair in a friends vehicle recnetly and had to replace one of the ballasts but when i did so the bulb that was using the new ballast began showing differently so i had to change both to get an even shade. Why does this happen?

I am no expert either but I would have to say it has something to do with the power comsumption of the ballast. The old one may have not been push the correct amount so your light did not show full color.  When you changed the ballast you got the full power thus getting full color.

I would have to think that you possibly had 2 bad ballast but one went faster than the other. Like I said I am no expert but this is my best guess on your question.

There are alot of people on here that will know better and may chime in soon.

the colors are different cause the new ballast probably put out more power than the old one lighting the bulb brighter . happens all the time in new nissans. very expensive!!!
