Ok, so in my understanding of "HID" lighting tech, the arc uses less electricity than a normal filament bulb, correct? My end goal is to have all the lighting on my vehicle LED, and HID for the headlights, in an attempt to free up as much electricity for other....; let's just say "accessories". The brake and turn signal lights are easy, I'll just use simple "smoked" housings and replace the innards with LEDs on custom boards. Now the problem I have is my car's factory headlight assemblies allow only for single dual-phase bulbs. Meaning for HID conversion, I either sacrifice high-beams or replace the housing.
I DO NOT WANT OR NEED OR CARE FOR PLASTIC!!!! And I cannot stress this enough. After a few years the polish becomes worn and flaky and the plastic becomes brittle or just downright ugly.
I have searched for the better part of 4 months now, and cannot for the life of me find dual bulb housings, that will fit a 92 civic 4 dr. made with glass faces. They are all plastic.
I would prefer the housing style similar to the hatch, where the sidemarker is in the same housing as the headlight, but the OE 2 separate pieces will do just fine if need be. Does anyone know of an interchange for the dual bulb housings with glass face that will not require modification (tho I will if I have to) to replace?

buy bi-xenon hid kit , no need to go nuts trying to find a headlight housing.92 , i believe is a 9004 bulb number, which is available in bi-xenon kit. just to clarify they run both high/low on hid. later.

xenon bulbs are not HID bulbs. HID is high intensity discharge, which instead of a filament bulb uses two electrodes that create an arc. These bulbs can only create one beam in each bulb.. the 92 civic headlight housing is a h4 bulb housing, which is a single dual-phase bulb setup. I want to convert to HID (not HID simulation). But upon further revision, and further study into local laws and such, I have decided instead to opt for a complete LED conversion, including headlights. As soon as i find the right LEDs i will do a full conversion.

they do sell bulbs for your vehicle, they work with a magnet that retracts the bulb back and gives the illusion that there is a highbeam. they are legal here in texas and i have put in a million of them. and for the record a xenon and a hid bulb are indeed the same xenon is the gas that the bulb is charged with.

But you are not getting the HID thing. All HIDs are filled with Xenon, not all Xenon bulbs are HID. thats an irrational generalization. HID again means HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE theres no filament. in oe replacement style xenon bulbs, there is indeed still a filament, just xenon gas instead of halogen. And LEDs still take much much less power, than filaments and HIDs.
