I have four Optronics IL-21CS interior lights (24 watt, 12V each) that I have installed in my cargo trailer. I would like to run a fused hot line from my auto battery to my trailer. I have the four lights wired to a light switch with 16 gauge wire. I would like to use a Hopkins 47965 (multi-use positive and negative nating connector) to connect the trailer to the vechicle. What type and what gauge wire would I need for this application? I would appreciate any information you can provide to make this as simple as possible. I know nothing about 12v wiring.

Each lamp will draw 2 amps of current, for a total of 8 amps. 16 gauge wire is rated to handle 15 amps of current.
