looking for headlights

I was at a car spot in Florida and I seen these lights where if you look at the headlights they are white but if you look down on the street, they shine green. I was wondering what they are called.

I'd call them stupid.

Why filter out light to only be left with green?
Not to mention the glare to oncoming drivers.

It's not a filter; to the blind eye they are white but when you look on the ground they shine some other color.

It's a filter.   Or why there is only green down the street & not white?


But my point was intended to mean: why filter out the red & the blues etc down the street?
