i want to make some led lights with a waterproof housing for my boat but i dont know what plastic to use i was thinking abs but idk.... all i need to know is what plastic to use and how to melt it but i want it clear so the led light can go through the lens... thanks

Anything that's waterproof.

The LEDs themselves are so it's a question of how you decide to mount & lens them, and maybe how you power them.

And you'd probably use a sealant rather than a melt.

well here is a start..... i have 20 LEDs on a 12 volt but now i just need a nice cover or something........ posted_image

maybe take the circuit board with leads attached, slowly immerse in epoxy (not the five minute stuff). let the epoxy work through the open holes and have it cover the board completely.

You might look at US Composites too. they have a wide variety of epoxy and resins that you could use. They also have decent descriptions of the properties and uses of each.

if you encase them in somthing like resin make sure you have the mounting hardware (like a bolt or somthing) in place as the resin/epoxy will hold it together.
